Experienced Director with a background in both software engineering and computer science education. I am known for innovative ideas and collaborative problem solving. In my most recent work, my mission has been to expand access to computer science education to all K–12 schools in Iowa. I have worked with over 2,100 Preschool–12th grade educators to teach them how to bring computer science education to their students. Between 2016 and 2023, Iowa has increased from 49% of high schools offering at least one computer science class, to 84%. I am proud to have been a catalyst and leader for this work, raising Iowa's ranking to 7th in the nation. My previous experience as a software engineer, combined with my ability to listen to the needs and challenges of educators, has built a reputation of exceptional support and service. My ability to view problems from multiple perspectives has been helpful when working with software developers, product marketing, managers, classroom teachers, school district administrators, partner organizations, the Iowa Department of Education, and the Governor's office. When collaborating with these various entities I make potential solutions easy to discuss and test, gaining trust and allowing my teams and our state to make the progress that we have. I find ways to merge my strengths with my collaborators' to create better solutions than our individual ideas. My leadership has enabled our team to innovate and grow our offerings for both students and educators.
