My passion has been for protecting the natural environment and its inhabitants since I became a self aware individual. That passion took on many colors over the years. I brought it most into focus when I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability and when I co-founded an agency of birth-workers. My experience studying in the nation's first and best School of Sustainability gave me a holism where before I felt helpless. By that, I mean that I went from viewing the world and its inhabitants as on-fire-and-doomed (based on my knowledge of social injustices and environmental destruction) to having hope. Upon graduation, I chose the path of the artist and pursued creating a small business where I hand crafted and sold unique pottery, including my signature piece: The Prego Pot. To fund my craft, I worked humble day jobs. First, I taught elementary children art, PE and meditation at a Montessori school. I then supported a new retreat center (The Joshua Tree House - Tucson) in the Saguaro National Park by becoming their lead housekeeper and creating and optimizing systems to ease the back of house duties. Then the world locked down in 2020. Two weeks later, I found myself joyfully pregnant with my first child. As a birth doula and a pregnant woman in pandemic, I had to get creative as I saw and experienced the barriers a pandemic can place on maternal care. I co-founded an agency of birth-workers (doulas and a placenta specialist) to close the gaps in the care pregnant and postpartum women were experiencing to a new degree. We took on clients; produced handmade, toxin-free body products that support the various stages that are pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; and created a robust online presence through our website, blog, and social media platforms.I am now stepping back into the field of sustainability as I feel called to bring my skills to large corporations, knowing that their scope is so wide and with that comes a great responsibility to our global community.
