Superior Fresh is a fully organic aquaponic greenhouse growing leafy greens using deep water culture. As our baby green grower, I oversaw about 8 acres of production. In collaboration with our head lettuce grower, fish house, sales, operations, and lab teams my roles include managing greenhouse climate (PRIVA), crop planning and projections, macro and micronutrient management, IPM planning, overall process optimization, and research and development to improve crop health. Research included, but was not limited to: variety trials, nutrient experimentation, propagation techniques, biological controls, crop rotations, seed treatments, sanitation procedures, and overall disease management.

Managed a 1000 square foot greenhouse of hydroponic tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers used as a prototype greenhouse for "ReThink Fresh" in the McGuire New Venture Development program at the University of Arizona. Produce was sold to the public as a weekly subscription box through a web platform.

As greenhouse manager I oversaw the 2500 square foot teaching greenhouse and the 1000 square foot specialty crop greenhouse. In addition to plant care, nutrient management, and harvest tasks learned as a student worker, I performed basic pest management and analyzed harvest data for both greenhouses. I also helped to train student workers and interns, as well as serving as a teaching assistant for the introductory and advanced hydroponic classes offered at the U of A.

As a student worker, my roles were primarily plant care and maintenance, mixing nutrient tanks, measuring lysimeters, sorting and weighing produce, and compiling produce for customer orders.
