I am a freelance writer, editor, social media manager, and communicator who is also pursuing a PhD in English (Medieval Studies) at Memorial University in Newfoundland. I have written a wide-range of content for various sites including Elite Daily, WatchMojo, and Wingd (an award-winning Ottawa blog). I edited and helped write Wingd’s first publication, An Insider’s Guide to Canada’s Capital, in 2016/2017. My scholarly research focuses on gender, trauma, and pop culture, particularly in relation to cinematic and literary adaptions of Arthurian literature. I am also actively interested in issues of higher education including: grad student support and life after academia. Currently, I am partnered with Memorial University’s School of Graduate Studies to plan and create Facebook Live events meant to introduce graduate students to the resources they have access to, the (surprising) opportunities their degrees equip them for, and how to navigate graduate school without compromising their mental health. I am passionate about education in general, although I am particularly drawn to opportunities that allow me to participate in the communications or recruitment side of post-secondary life.
