As a double major in Public Policy and Management and Society, I have had the opportunity to study historical and current societal problems, including racial, economic, health, environmental, and wage inequality. My Public Policy major has enabled me to write, conduct, and gather research for current policy issues. I have written extensive papers on gun safety, specifically gun safety and its impact on the violence surrounding school shootings; disproportionate maternal mortality rates between white and black mothers; reducing high prescription drug rates; transportation policy; and “forever chemicals” (known as PFAS) that have infiltrated the environment and everyday products that pose a threat to our environment's longevity and public health. I will continue my academic studies within the Master of Public Policy accelerated degree program at UNC-Chapel Hill during my spring semester of senior year, and hope to go into policy consulting or analysis after graduation!
