This position was funded by the Office for Youth to assist a partnership of youth service providers with the delivery of a regional, network-based approach to youth recovery and development after the Black Saturday Bushfires. I provided strategic support by compiling an evidence-base and report for the Deputy Premier of Victoria on the status of children and young people. Indicators included health, wellbeing and educational outcomes and development since the bushfires. From this foundation, I was invited to convene and facilitate a roundtable of ministers, community reps, local government agents, service provides and principals from 8 impacted primary and secondary schools in the region. The intention was to discuss ways to collectively address the recurring barriers to youth development and engagement since the bushfires. This processes eventually lead to advocacy for the involvement and contribution of young people, culminating in the design and coordination of the Co-GEN Youth Forum - a participatory design forum that brought adults and young people together to co-generate pathways forward.

City Of Greater Bendigo Aug 2009 - Feb 2010
After the 2009 Bushfires, the City of Greater Bendigo decided that tools for ongoing collaboration, youth engagement and empowerment were vital to young people's development after the fires. To meet this need, I co-designed a participatory resource for agencies and young people to actively map points of youth connection, engagement and service utilisation following the Bushfires. The resource was grounded in empirical evidence derived from a multi-method youth engagement survey that I designed specifically for this project.
