I provide individualized attention and positive adult-child relationships to prepare children attending preschool in low-income neighborhoods for school success. I implement early childhood curricula and promote children’s language, social-emotional, and literacy skills through ongoing relationships with students. As a team leader, I hold my team of six Corps members accountable for all sessions, lead team meetings where we discuss the upcoming curriculum, and support their development in working with children. Through my work with Jumpstart, I have received intensive training and professional development in early childhood theory and practice, language and literacy development, leadership skills, and communication with families.

I am currently working full-time on Rape Victim Advocate’s (RVA) staff. I am on the planning committee for RVA’s Evening of Impact 2018, a gala honoring Time’s Person of the Year and #MeToo founder, Tarana Burke. I aid in logistical decisions, coordinate silent auction donations, and support programming for the event. I also lead in constructing a corporate training program for sexual harassment in the workplace and am responsible for conducting research, creating a curriculum, and developing a marketing strategy. I am aiding in the organization-wide transition of databases from DonorQuest to Salsa Engage and Salsa CRM. I am one of five in the organization trained by Salsa Scholars to manage this database, and, being thus, am producing a manual for general use. I conduct analyses on donations from the year-end appeal and compare how various donors find RVA, the platform used, and social media impact; all while using raw data from the unconnected systems of DonorQuest, Vertical Systems, and GiveDirect.

Cochabamba, Bolivia

I worked at an NGO and communal settlement that aims to improve the living conditions of children in rural Bolivia. I discussed the condition of children’s physical health with community leaders, reinvigorated the medical clinic, and developed informational medical posters to be distributed around the commune. I learned physical therapy practices for children with cerebral palsy and assisted, educated, and reintegrated children through interventions and family support projects. I also participated in academic training about international fieldwork and sustainable community development through the Global Engagement Studies Institute.

I worked full-time at the top Children’s Hospital in Illinois in the Inpatient Program of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit. I established meaningful relationships with patients and practiced effective behavior management interventions and techniques. I gained exposure and skills in pharmacotherapy, recreational therapy, group therapy, and behavioral therapy. I provided educational advocacy for patients and helped them reintegrate into the community at large through communication with schools and families.

Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area

I joined a specialized staff in one of the city’s leaders in early childhood education that focuses on the intellectual and emotional development of each child. I created lesson plans and developed curricula to engage and stimulate the learning of literacy, fine motor, and social skills for a classroom of fourteen two-year-olds. I collaborated with a teaching assistant to facilitate the classroom and plan activities, as well as communicating daily with parents and family members about their child’s development
