As a research assistant, I was involved in a number of projects including collecting primary data related to neighborhood property conditions, analyzing large secondary data sets, and writing reports that engage both a community and an academic audience.As a teaching assistant, I co-taught Human Behavior in the Social Environment (HBSE) at the Bachelor's and the Master's level. In the past, I co-taught a Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) course at the Master's level.

In my work with Gist Design, I conducted primary research in the field of product usability and design. This included moderating one on one interviews and focus groups, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and interpreting and reporting findings to clients. I continue to join the research team, now part of True Fit (http://www.truefitsolutions.com/), on a project by project basis.

I worked closely with the Junior Green Corps program, an after school program focused on employment training in the area of green jobs. I collected baseline and ongoing data on student performance including quantitative measures as well as in depth interviews with students and staff to systematically measure success. These evaluations were provided to program administrators as well as funders.

I held a dual appointment with the University of Pittsburgh and Operation Better Block, Inc. as a community based researcher in a community organizing and development non-profit. Here, I created a comprehensive neighborhood database chronicling property and neighborhood environmental conditions that I used to spearhead a data-driven community organizing effort that led to the boarding of nearly 30 vacant homes. I worked in collaboration with an interdisciplinary research team, the City of Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority, and community residents to conduct community based research that drove actionable neighborhood level interventions.

Investigated reports of child abuse and neglect to assess safety risks for children and determine whether intervention or out of home placement was necessary.Compiled client social histories, implemented culturally competent social work interventions, collaborated with multiple systems involved in family services, represented DCYF in court hearings by writing and submitting petitions to the court and testifying.
