Samantha White, Phd Email and Phone Number
I’ve studied consumers and sustainable consumption for a decade. Now, I’m leveraging my research experience to help organisations create positive social and environmental impact. The long version:Embarking on my PhD journey coincided with a personal transformation—a shift away from my staunch meat-eating habits towards a plant-based diet. This dual journey sparked my fascination with understanding the 'why' and 'how' behind rapid and transformative behaviour change. I became driven to master the mechanisms that drive consumers to shift their behaviour and harness them for the betterment of both people and the planet. My research tackles the nuances of consumer behaviour and its implications for societal and environmental well-being. In one project, we collected data from 23 consumers using food diaries, body mapping, and interviews to understand their experiences in transitioning to a flexitarian diet. This project won a national Research Translation Award and gained over 80 citations. In another project, we analysed data from 2,000 user-generated comments and interviewed 24 consumers from the United States and New Zealand to understand how climate change impacted consumers’ mental health and decisions to have kids. This research was picked up by 32 news outlets around the world and resulted in two interviews on national television.Driving real impact by sharing my expertise as a market researcher and sustainable consumption expert with industry has been integral to my professional journey. Deep consumer insights from two multi-year projects have been shared through keynote presentations to over 300 marketing practitioners, articles in two public health and industry journals, interviews on two podcasts, and participation in two expert panels on sustainability and consumer preferences. As I reflect on a decade of experience within academic research and higher education, I find myself at the cusp of a new chapter—transitioning into a new career in Market Research specialising in sustainable consumption and behaviour change. My goal is to facilitate meaningful change, helping organisations create positive social and sustainable impact through research-driven initiatives.Contact me today so we can talk about how we can create positive impact together.
