Provides Hispanic students and their families with an educational support program to meet their cultural, linguistic and cognitive needs. Fosters communication and relationships between the Hispanic deaf child and his/her family and community. Services include but are not limited to parent education and support, assisting TSD Support Staff and provides ongoing parent and student contact. Performs moderately complex interpreting and translating Spanish into English or reverse for all parent meetings, phone calls and the translation of all school correspondence.• Interprets and translates Spanish into English or reverse for phone calls, meetings, presentations and other forums as needed• Translates parent newsletters and other documents into Spanish• Translates all school information/documents into Spanish (report cards, progress notes, ARDs/IEPs)• Serves as ARD/IEP liaison for Spanish speaking families• Attends all ARD meetings for students whose parent/guardian primary language is Spanish and tape-records and interprets meetings• Serves as primary agency contact for Spanish speaking families• Serves as Liaison and provides translation services between Teachers, Nurses, Counselors, Social Workers, Residential Staff, Transportation Staff and Hispanic families• Orientation for Spanish speaking families and provides required interpreting and translations for these events• Interprets Parent sign language class and provides translation as needed• Maintains current Hispanic parent contact information for database• Helps Spanish speaking parents with college information, applications and other pertinent paperwork related to transition and support services• Provides campus tours for prospective Spanish speaking familiesDemonstrates effective interpersonal relationships Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
