I began my career in the Queensland Ambulance Service as an Honourary Officer in 1997 for a period of 12 months. During this year, I spent as much of my spare time working on road as I possibly could. On 16/2/1998 I officially became an employee of the QAS. I completed a Diploma of Health Science (Ambulance) through Southbank Institute of Tafe and qualified as an Ambulance Officer in September 2001.I have further completed a conversion degree through Victoria University in 2013/14 to upgrade my qualifications. Over the many years of my career I have worked in many locations - metropolitan and rural. I have worked as part of a team on road, usually 2 officers. I have also worked long periods as a single response officer, in many rural locales.Recently, I have qualified as a Physician Assistant. This is a little known position within Australia. It takes its guidance from the American model of Physician Assistants. It is an extremely valuable part of modern health care and is able to be either a generalist position or become a specialised position within a particular speciality.My career has covered many diverse areas.".
