I am a PhD candidate in psychology at the University of Auckland, specialising in cognitive and developmental psychology. My doctoral research explores the dynamics of human attention and decision-making utilising virtual reality. This innovative approach encompassed the development of research paradigms using the game-engine software Unity, along with sophisticated data analysis of participants’ reaching- and eye-movements in three-dimensional space.As a contract researcher at Soul Machines / University of Auckland over the past 6 years, I acted as a bridge between the academic and industry sides of a long-term collaborative effort focused on BabyX, a project aimed at developing an AI infant that simulates infant behaviour and cognition. This was a multifaceted role with a diverse set of responsibilities, including leading the development of game-interface software for BabyX. I also provided consulting and feedback on BabyX's cognitive architecture and behaviour and designed developmental studies to further our collaboration's objectives.I believe in finding practical applications for psychology and cognitive science that serve to enhance and promote human flourishing, as well as provide tangible solutions within both academic and industry contexts.
