Sailing on LNG carriers as 2nd Assistant Engineer.

As third assistant engineer at NYK shipping management pt. Ltd. My role is continuous monitoring of various machinery and watchkeeping, break down maintenance and assisting other engineers in various engine room activities. I work under the guidance of chief engineer and 1st assistant engineer. As 3rd assistant engineer I am required to continuous monitoring and maintenance of purifiers, air compressors, generators, boilers, pumps etc.As a part of ship's crew, it is vital to take part in safety and environmental protection drills and exercises carried out on-board every week as per captians order. Weekly saftey checks of engine room fire fighting appliances was my responsibility.Apart from engine room machinery, under the guidance of gas engineer I worked on cargo compressors and understood how reliquifaction plant works.As a cadet, I also got an opportunity to experience 5 yearly large scale, drydock operation of a car carrier.
