For the past year, I have been coaching two under-10 batches and been working for an organisation popularly known as Enabling Leadership which works to impart football and life skills to in need under privileged government school kids.I worked with one batch each of 10 boys and 10 girls, who had issues like discipline, attention, opening up to teachers and classmates and provided sessions to them over an year in which we gave them football lessons designed according to English FA coaching method and also work on their issues by giving them life skill lessons in Awareness of Community and World, Belief and responsibility of self and others, Creative and Critical Thinking. Having this work experience, I developed a coaching style in which the focus is on the child. The teachings are not instruction based and military style but rather done so that it motivates the kid and makes them think. A lot of two way communication between the kids and coach is involved to make room for the emotional aspect of the game and give the kids the skill of emotional intelligence. All these practices are effective as the kids in my batches were seen to pay more attention and interact with teachers and their peers more. Both of my teams also won Team of the season in the annual tournament organised by the organisation and I won coach of the season award.I also have experience with coaching older students as I played the role of informal coach of my college team for 2 years.
