Worked as Research Assistant under Principal Research Scientist V.Surendra Nath at the Aerospace Department(Open Circuit Wind Tunnel) .Project: AERO-ELASTIC STUDIES ON REUSABLE LAUNCH VEHICLE-TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATOR (RLV-TD)Tasks carried out:• Design and fabrication of 1:15 scale aero-elastic composite model of RLV-TD, along with launch pedestal and umbilical tower.• Wind tunnel testing of the model at various wind angles to determine model tip-acceleration (using LVDT), base bending moment, shear force, vortex shedding, frequencies and mode shapes corresponding to first lateral mode.• Spectral analysis of external force data from balance to identify vortex shedding. Hot-wire anemometer studies to compliment the above studies. • Measured and studied steady and oscillatory amplitude response of the tip using Linear Variable Displacement Transformer (LVDT) and accelerometers respectively.• Measured and analyzed turbulent velocity profile using a 16-channel pitot static tube rake.• Smoke and tuft flow visualization.Tools used:LabVIEW, MATLAB, ANSYS-Workbench, CATIA V5 and SolidWorks.
