As a Safety & Quality Check Student Lead-Technician, I worked on a global collaborative effort - Generation 2 Reinvented Toilet Project (G2RT) led by Georgia Tech, under the supervision of Dr. Shannon Yee, which was supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The refined version 1.2 model was in its final development phase and was ready to be field-tested in South Africa, India, France, and at laboratory sites on Georgia Tech’s Research Institute (GTRI), Duke University Center for Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, and Infectious Disease (WaSH-AID), and in Switzerland. The G2RT model was ready for demonstration, and the team continued to the next phase to showcase the technology to potential commercial manufacturers.Responsibilities included:- Leading a team of 6 undergraduate students in managing the on-site model and running the model under different scientific conditions.- Replacing the ‘Omni Processor’ of the reinvented, low-cost toilet to achieve and maintain optimal performance.- Participating in fundraising efforts, which have generated over $100M+ in licensing and presented prototypes targeting emerging markets.The team and I had the privilege to showcase this prototype model at The World Water Week at The World Bank, Washington DC, in March 2023.

During my internship, I gained hands-on experience in the field of environmental engineering and applied my knowledge in various projects, including:- Designed and cost estimated a Decentralized Treatment System (DTS) for a residential complex, with a capacity to treat 85 KLD of wastewater daily.- Documented a maintenance visit of a Rainwater Harvesting system at Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, which had the potential to collect 36 ML of water per year.- Conducted a study on nitrate and phosphate removal using hydroponic plants and devised a circular economy business model.- Trained over 100 Material Recovery Facility (MRF) workers on Environmental Health and Safety regulations.- Carried out a prefeasibility study for creating artificial recharge interventions to replenish the depleting groundwater table in a forest area.In addition to these tasks, I also had the opportunity to participate in two significant projects:- The Solid Waste Appropriate Technology Tool (SW-APT) (http://cpheeo.gov.in/cms/swapt.php), where I designed the overview layout of a decision-making tool in collaboration with GIZ to manage Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and comply with the Central Pollution Control Board's Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.- An energy & resource recovery laboratory-scale bio-methanation project, where I along with 3 others built & monitored a pilot research model to successfully obtain 9000mL of biogas with a maximum efficiency of 80% by the process of enzymatic anaerobic co-digestion of sludge, inoculum, commercial enzymes, and food waste.

During my internship period at Ambient Housing & Construction Pvt. Ltd. firm, my position as an on-site civil engineer included the following responsibilities:- Demonstrated exceptional leadership and coordination skills by managing all on-site activities to ensure seamless project execution, meeting established schedules and quality standards.- Communicated regularly with project manager, providing updates on progress, resource allocation and workforce status.- Supervised a team of over 10 construction workers on an 11-story luxury high-rise tower, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.- Utilized advanced mathematical and technical skills to calculate steel quantities through the preparation of detailed bar bending schedules (BBS) for various flooring systems.
