The High Power Rocketry Club (HPRC) is a competitively run rocketry organization that participated in tournaments like the Spaceport America Cup last year. At the Spaceport America Cup, the High Power Rocketry Club (HPRC) won the Jim Furfaro Technical Excellence Award and achieved a third-place finish in the Payload Challenge. As a member of the payload team, I have the responsibility of constructing the frame of the payload. Constructing the payload design involved working with upperclassmen in regularly scheduled meetings, designing, and improving the prior payload design. The main goal for this year's payload structure was to increase the modularity of external and internal panels to allow for easy access to the internal components. The structure team involved me working with two other students to find solutions and improve upon last year's design. Some solutions involved manufacturing T-slots to minimize the number of screws needed to mount a panel. Being involved in the payload allowed me to gain working experience in CAD modeling and a work-like environment. I will be incorporating skills like prototyping, machining, and real-life testing of the integrity of the structure and its modularity to access internal components later on in the year. Currently, I am transitioning to the role of interim sub team and will responsible of test and intergarging all of the different system into the payload.
