As the Team Leader of a diverse, highly skilled and experienced team of Royal Engineers, it is my responsibility to ensure that the team members remain motivated, inspired and able, both physically and mentally, to achieve the targets set by the chain of command. This, alongside constantly mentoring and training junior members, allows for a highly productive team at all levels whilst providing a platform for self development.During my time in this role, I have gained experience in managing joint forces construction tasks with set timelines and specifications, such as the construction of observation posts and fencing, spanning the 186km land border between Poland and Belarus during my deployment on Operation Rockstaff. I was responsible for managing the pre-fabrication, delivery and construction phases of the task. Working in a harsh climate, my specific focus was on the welfare of the team in extremely cold conditions. I managed the project with a distinct focus on health and safety, whilst ensuring that key milestones were met and that the required standards were achieved on time.During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led a team of multi-skilled team of multi skilled personnel from both military and civilian backgrounds in the operation and daily running of a walk through testing facility in the south of Scotland. Responsibilities included liaising with Local Authorities and NHS representatives to ensure that all relevant health and safety standards were being met, waste management protocols were being adhered to and all testing data was recorded and stored correctly.

As a member of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search Team, my primary role was to provide a high assurance search capability, often in complex and highly stressful environments.I was also responsible for the care and maintenance / operation of over £1m worth of mission critical military equipment, ensuring that the kit was kept in a clean, serviceable condition in order for it to be held at a constant state of readiness. With further experience and skill progression in this role, I began delivering lessons and task scenarios to new team members to maintain the highest standards and effectiveness of the team.
