To briefly summarize this role, I was responsbile for designing, implementing and maintaining an IoT Architecture to connect an LED priceline to the internet. As the Principal IoT Engineer for this system, I implemented an architecture that could be easily deployed in commercial environments with little configuration. A simplification of the architecture is as follows:* Data Generation: Embedded linux with a Node.js application layer utilizing OS Services* Data Transit: A lightweight message broker system built on top of MQTT over Websockets* Data Processing/Storage: Built within AWS, utilizing many AWS services* Data Access: RESTful API built on top of AWS API GatewayAfter the proof-of-concept phase for this device, my responsibilities expanded to include working with Able's hardware engineers and our contract manufactures to ensure that our device could be mass produced. My role as Mobile Application Specialist at Highlights for Children requires me to direct the company in the mobile technologies space. My responsibilities include overseeing all mobile application development for Highlights for Children and all of its subsidiaries (Highlights International, Zaner-Bloser, SDE, Stenhouse, Boyds Mills Press, Highlights Foundation, and Superkids). I provide direction on current technologies and how they can benefit the business and consumers. I was placed in a contract-to-hire position at Highlights for Children at PrincetonOne. Highlights quickly hired me after the contract with PrincetonOne ended. My sole responsibility in the contract-to-hire position was to bring mobile development in-house and to build a team that could handle all aspects of this new digital realm. As a BOH Specialist my primary responsibility is to manage our store's inventory. I held several secondary roles in the store which include Mobile Device Technical Support, Visual Merchandising Leader, and System Administrator. In the Mobile Device Technical Support role, I troubleshoot and repair devices such as iPods, iPhones and iPads. My other role of Visual Merchandising Leader allows me to manage a team of twelve to fifteen coworkers to ensure the visual aspect of the store is maintained. The final role of System Administrator gave me the ability to work with Apple’s internal tech support to ensure the store systems were running properly.
