At Island FM I'm responsible for reading and writing live hourly news bulletins using Burli newsroom software. We have a very wide brief on the station and need to be ready to report on any subject - from politics to events, show business to lost pets, crime to education.I also maintain our news presence online, writing stories for the web and sharing them to social media platforms.As a senior broadcast journalist I have a hand in the direction our newsroom takes with a story, where items should come in the running order, and which people need to be interviewed for a given subject.I co-ordinate the station's work-experience programme, and am the point of contact for any prospective students who may wish to come in and learn how we work.Island FM’s podcast, In Depth, was my final achievement before I left. Images, audio, guests, hosting, and the first episode were all complete before my last day.

The Guernsey Press was my first reporting job after completing my degree. Here I was responsible for sourcing and writing local news stories for the island's only daily newspaper. It was my job to interview sources, collate background information, and write informative stories for the island's population.

As a shift supervisor at the island's own airline I was tasked with managing a shift of 20 ramp agents, aircraft dispatchers, and customer service agents ensuring they undertook their tasks in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and company policies. On a daily basis I would perform turnaround inspections, ensuring aircraft were safely dealt with while they were on the ground.I was also a point of contact for passenger queries and complaints, especially during times of travel disruption such as fog.

My position as an aircraft dispatcher saw me overseeing the safe turnaround of aircraft at Guernsey Airport. I was tasked with co-ordinating ramp agents, customer service representatives, catering teams, aircraft fuelers, and airline operations to ensure flights left on time in compliance with CAA and airline regulations. As part of this role I would also be a point of contact for travelling passengers, providing them information about their flight departures, and onward connections during times of travel disruption.
