About Sam Berlin

My passion for engineering started when I was very young building Star Wars Lego sets and always being fascinated with understanding how things worked. From simple things like how turning a gate valve allows water to flow through a hose to significantly more complex things like how a 315,000-pound airplane can fly through thin air flawlessly, I always had an itch to understand how they worked at their fundamental levels. In college, I was able to learn the design for manufacturability relationship where I was able to apply it in a professional environment as a shop technician. Reading engineering drawings and fabricating assemblies gave me an understanding of what was needed for a design to be manufacturable efficiently and if needed, repeatable. My career at Honeywell FM&T has allowed me to apply these skills to highly important work in the nuclear defense industry where I am responsible for creating solutions to unique manufacturing issues and have a hand in designing and redesigning component drawings and specifications to maximize product quality and production efficiency. As a mechanical engineer with 3 years of experience, I am fluent in understanding engineering drawings and have gained an understanding of GD&T through real-world production assemblies along with taking multiple instructional classes. Working in manufacturing has allowed me to grow my communication, organization, and problem-solving skills while working in team-based environments while meeting strict deliverable metrics to the customer. On my free time, I’ve been able to grow my skills in CAD software such as CREO and SolidWorks and develop my skills in C++ programming language while working on side projects where I have been able to gain experience in design engineering where my deep passion for engineering lies and where I am currently looking for a role to find myself in. If you’re looking for a mechanical engineer that can apply a strong understanding of the manufacturing side of production to the design side, please reach out to me at sam.berlin15@gmail.com.
