I am a San Francisco native and California attorney who practices intellectual property law, contract law, technology law, internet law, and sports law. My favorite thing about what I do is creating IP protection and rights for individuals and companies, aka, brand building. I believe that a brand is a company's primary expression about who they are and what they do and, in my experience, there are crucial legal steps that individuals and companies can take to enhance value and protection for that expression.I bring that experience of brand building to Sideman & Bancroft LLP to work in their Brand Integrity and Innovation Group and Intellectual Property practice group. I advise on all aspects of brand protection including intellectual property licensing, domestic and foreign trademark prosecution and enforcement, copyright protection, and anti-counterfeiting enforcement.I am an alumnus of Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York where I completed a concentration in intellectual property, the University of San Francisco, and St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco.Upon passing the July 2014 California Bar Exam, I spent eight months working as a Law Fellow with California Lawyers for the Arts helping low income artists with their legal matters. From there, I went to a large firm to assist in their trademark practice group learning the ins-and-outs of trademark prosecution and enforcement on both a domestic and international level. I left large firm life to practice in a boutique firm that focused on intellectual property in the cannabis industry, where I learned how intellectual property in the cannabis industry differs than most other industries and brought that knowledge to the Law Offices of James Marion, Esq. while simultaneously working to help artists and creative individuals with their legal matters at Creative Industry Law. I am the founder and chair of the Cannabis, Alcohol, and Regulated Industries Barristers Section for the Bar Association of San Francisco. I am also a contributing author for New Matter magazine and Inevitable Disclosures. I currently sit on the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association (SFIPLA) advisory board.
