Ever since I was a toddler, I have always been around machinery. My father was a used machinery dealer and I remember visiting him at his warehouse. I remember the giant machine tools, the strong smell of the oil and coolant, the greasy warehouse floor, and how loud the machines were. I didn’t realize it then, but those experiences provided me a foundation for my career in the auction and used equipment industry. For over 7 years, I have worked in the industrial auction industry and have worn many hats in my time. I started off helping Auction Services and learning how to create a successful auction from the ground up. From answering phones, cleaning machines, sending customer invoices, and collecting payments, I learned every step of the process by doing it all. I then dipped my toes Business Development and got my first taste of cold-calling and managing a sales pipeline. I was also introduced to Auction Marketing, and how to build a successful brochure and marketing campaign. As I continued to rotate around the business, my true calling ultimately became apparent over time. What I enjoyed most was appraising and evaluating equipment, and helping clients come up with the best solution to monetize that equipment. I relished the challenge of figuring out what a piece of equipment does, how it works, and what makes it valuable. I have since become a Certified Equipment Appraiser through the Association of Machinery & Equipment Appraisers (AMEA). I also got a thrill out of helping clients who looked to me for solutions. Since each machine, each plant, and every company are different, each deal is therefore different and requires a specialized solution. One auction does not fit all, and I find that prospect be exciting and challenging!
