Profile bio

About Sam Brilleman

I enjoy building tools that enable data scientists. I currently work as a Principal Data Scientist within the AI team at SEEK, where I've spent the last few years building and maintaining an experimentation platform to support AB testing across the company.Data science, statistics, experimentation, modelling, and software engineering - these all fall within my realm of interests and expertise. I hold a PhD in Biostatistics and an MSc in Medical Statistics, and worked for a number of years in academic health research before moving to industry. Although my training is in data science and statistics, I also have a passion for software engineering (esp. Python/R) and DevOps/MLOps/CICD practices.Previously I have contributed to the development of open-source software packages for R and Stan. Topics like Bayesian inference, survival analysis, joint longitudinal-survival models, longitudinal data analysis, causal methods, and adaptive trials all still interest me - although it is the development of tooling to enable data science that really captures me. I enjoy working both in Python and R, as well as with cloud services, especially those in the AWS stack. I enjoy working as a technical contributor in small, collaborative, project-focused teams. You can read more on my prior academic ventures on my website: https://www.sambrilleman.com/.Although these days the work I do looks something more like this: https://medium.com/seek-blog/10-lessons-from-building-an-experimentation-platform-ded851715683.
