999/111 Response in the community, working alongside Paramedics and Technicians in the private sector for SCAS operations

I worked full time in the Force Operations Control Room. My primary role was to review incidents as they came in from the 999 and 101 service, and triage them. I would then allocate resources (such as police officers and specialist teams) in a timely manner. Risk assessing was the main component of my role, and this also applied to when I assisted in answering and handling 999 calls from the public. I would routinely conduct 'fast time enquiries' into intelligence systems and previous records to create more comprehensive risk assessments, and to brief officers whilst they were travelling to high risk incidents. I was trained in authorising police vehicle pursuits and managing them over the radio, whilst assessing the level of risk. This involved me working closely with the Force Incident Manager (FIM) and tactical advisors from the Roads Policing Unit. I have also had the oppurtunity to lead and manage high risk firearms incidents, and attend debriefings with Operational Firearms Commanders.
