- Conducted a comparative study on ProA affinity chromatography that enabled the use of a high-throughput automated liquid-handling system, the Tecan Fluent, as an alternative to traditional AKTA Pure systems, leading to a reduction in the cost of materials and the time required for Avid to deliver mAb drug substance to their clients- Used DoE tables generated in JMP to define two sets of experiments which were performed using AKTA Pure or Tecan Fluent systems, to assess how the Tecan Fluent might be used instead of AKTA to gather information during process development- Responded to persistent errors that disrupted normal operation of the Tecan Fluent during chromatography runs, studied the user manual and FluentControl program method, and enabled continued use of the Tecan by identifying and resolving errors without technical staff support- Leveraged experimental dataset in JMP to compare design spaces in both systems, identified elution pH as having a comparable impact on chromatography performance in each system, enhancing the usability of the Tecan Fluent during early phase process development that resulted in 20% faster development cycles

- Successfully delivered CFD models of three portable mixing tanks that provide an alternative to commercial-scale mixing studies, reducing the time required to perform mixing studies from two weeks to one day, and lowering the cost for Boehringer Ingelheim (Boehringer) to develop and deliver life-saving products to patients- Configured Ansys FLUENT to simulate fluid mixing and perform mixing time studies that will support process characterization and validation for two steps in Boehringer’s downstream processes, removing the cost of raw materials, labor, and process downtime required by commercial-scale mixing studies- Using the delivered models, Boehringer can assess the impact of different operating parameters on mixing time, and also can quickly troubleshoot process deviations in their manufacturing facilities, reducing the likelihood of batch loss and drug product shortages- Responded to roadblocks by independently studying the conceptual and practical background of CFD and Ansys FLUENT, frequently coordinating with our liaison from Boehringer, and making significant revisions to the FLUENT model setup, yielding comprehensive, accurate, and reliable models of Boehringer's portable mixing tanks
