Supported the Business Energy Leadership Team with regulatory and industry engagement during the pandemic, through the market uncertainty caused by the failure of almost 30 suppliers and during the ongoing challenges posed by the impact of the Ukraine war.

- Built relationships with GB and Ireland business units across the generation, distribution and supply of energy to understand how best to support them to achieve their objectives compliantly,- Led a team of Compliance Auditors to provide advisory and consultancy support to business units, helping to de-mystify rules and put in place practical solutions to (sometimes) complex problems,- Collaborated with the Corporate Anti-Financial Crime Officer on the Group strategy for managing this risk, and- Coordinated the provision of Compliance Reviews to provide independent assurance of compliance with key obligations.

- Collaborated closely with business stakeholders to contribute towards the successful launch of new sales channels,- Provided advice on key areas of compliance risk, seeking to offer common sense measures to manage issues, - Managed a team of Compliance Auditors to provide independent assurance of compliance with key rules, and- Coordinated responses to regulatory information requests relating to compliance with licence conditions.

- Contributed towards the formulation of the Bank’s Strategic Plan, reviewing and challenging the financial and volume assumptions of business units,- Monitored performance against the Plan through regular forecasting cycles, and assessedcompliance against regulatory capital requirements in a stressed economic environment,- Created Board and Executive Committee presentations articulating financial and regulatory performance, and risks to performance across the business; and- Assessed the risks to the business posed by Scottish Independence, including the preparation of quarterly Board papers.

- Successfully led a team of 20 staff to identify the customers impacted by the sale of a £5bn loan portfolio to the National Australia Bank, and- Implemented process controls to provide ongoing analysis and reconciliation of the portfolio for the Bank’s Chief Financial Officer.
