My name is Sam Duty, and I am a CIS Major at Appalachian State University. It is currently my senior year and I hope to finish my classes in the summer of 2023. I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, and I consider this to be my true home. I have always had a fond love for computers even since I was a kid and what they do and what’s inside of them is always very interesting for me to learn. I am extremely fond of disassembly and re-assembly for anything with screws holding it together, as this is something else I have loved since I was a kid. Over this past summer, I worked as a Tech Intern at the Hill Learning Center, and I enjoyed every minute I was there. I learned a lot about networking and what an IT expert does on a daily basis. I plan on using this knowledge going into by next job or internship, and hopefully I will be able to build upon the skills I have already learned, while using the ones I know to provide a helping hand. Again, I really enjoy the networking aspect of CIS and this is possibly something I want to pursue as a career as creating a strong network infrastructure is something I can excel in. I hope to find a career where I work with a team because I definitely work best when I can bounce ideas around.
