Both courses emphasized critical reading of the primary scientific literature, satisfying a departmental goal to strengthen student familiarity with advanced journal articles. • Used the Canvas online Learning Management System to share lecture recordings, distribute class handouts, communicate news and updates about classes, and administer quizzes. • Rapidly adapted in-person classes and office hours to an online format so that students could continue their coursework during the COVID-19 pandemic with a minimal loss of educational value.• Managed 3 teaching assistants, including setting expectations, observing their teaching, and providing feedback.• From the first to second quarter in which I taught Principles of Chromatin, enrollment increased from 25 to 46 students due to significant demand for the class. • Students rated courses I designed and taught an average score of 4.8/5.0.

• Working in the lab of Dr. Toshi Tsukiyama, I investigated how two major protein complexes regulate the organization of the budding yeast genome.• Independently designed and conducted experiments, analyzed data, and collaborated with lab group members. • Communicated the results of my work in published journal articles, including a first-author publication in the journal Genetics, as well as oral and poster presentations at both local and national scientific conferences. • Wrote Python and Bash scripts to facilitate my lab’s ability to efficiently analyze large data sets, as well as troubleshooting colleagues’ analytical pipelines.
