Designing a noninvasive, portable device that overcomes the shortcomings of the current voice restoration therapies. A combined Convolutional Neural Network (ConvNet) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network will be designed with input from two sources: acoustic output produced from traditional electrolarynx use and lip movements during speech. The neural network will associate the two data points during electrolarynx use with speech phonemes. Then, it will convert the recognized phonemes into computer generated voice output. The goal is to improve a laryngectomee’s quality of life with more intelligible speech via a “smart” electrolarynx.

I Held weekly office hours to assist students with homework and to help them understand concepts. I Provided assistance to the professor by grading homeworks and organizing review sessions before exams.
