Raahi started out as informal jams and recording sessions of four established artists from the Pakistani music industry. Louis J Pinto (Gumby) was working on sessions with Ahsan Bari and Sameer Ahmed Bakhtiari, and the resulting music seemed to click. Gumby asked OmranShafique to come on board soon after and work on more songs began in earnest. All of them have been composing, recording, and performing with a multitude of artists and projects in different capacities over the years.They decided to take their combined expertise and know how and release their own music under their own banner: Raahi. The idea behind the band is to keep putting out content and playing shows, without getting bogged down with the production process. Ideas are promptly recorded by the guys, and they move on to the next song. Pure instinct and feel. The style ranges across many genres but a certain element of South Asian music is ever present.
