Lumen Foundation is committed to developing global STEMI programs. This includes creating population-based AMI initiatives, telemedicine-based AMI networks, and enhancing global STEMI education, research and training. A particular emphasis is devoted to STEMI Interventions in women and in creating STEMI templates for developing countries. Numerous initiatives developed by the Lumen Foundation have contributed to enhancing STEMI care in several developing countries. LATIN comprises a major Lumen Foundation initiative, and it is using telemedicine as a foundation pillar to provide comprehensive AMI management to vast populations in Brazil and Colombia. Such initiatives endeavor to reduce the disparities in AMI care between developed and developing countries.

Lumen Global is the world's preeminent, STEMI-centric, global AMI symposium that will be conducting its 14th annual scientific and academic meeting at the Plaza Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand bewteen January 10-11, 2015. Lumen Global has advanced the STEMI process and procedure through its previous annual meetings in Miami, Dubai, New Delhi, and Bangkok. It aggregates and disseminates the Lumen Foundation's mission of "saving lives from AMI." Although global in reach, Lumen Global has focused on AMI care in China, India, and in the ASEAN countries. LATIN is a robust AMI management system presently based in Brazil and Colombia that uses innovative telemedicine technology as a foundation pillar to hugely expand access to AMI care. LATIN is rapidly completing its pilot program of creating 100 hub-and-spoke telemedicine centers. Primary PCI is performed at LATIN hubs with telemedicine guidance and utilizing prehospital alert, ED bypass, and STEMI process and procedure enhancements to achieve short D2B times. LATIN spokes, located up to 250 miles from LATIN hubs, employ sophisticated telemedicine platforms to accurately diagnose STEMI and urgently triage and transport patients to LATIN hubs. LATIN is providing global STEMI templates for developing countries. It proposes to enhance STEMI care by reducing barriers in developing countries. Increased access and accuracy, providing comprehensive AMI management, and generating cost-effective care are the proposed scientific goals of LATIN. Including ACS initiatives and expanding to additional South American countries are near term goals.
