Production Planning Manager (PPM) is responsible for Plan and forecast entire maintenance work load liaison with MTS, ME and make all arrangements to execute the same as per the regulatory requirements. He also responsible to advise and support maintenance section to accomplish cost effective maintenance and high dispatch reliability. PPM is responsible to organize administrative structure in Engineering and Maintenance to achieve airworthiness requirement set by Helitours (Pvt) Ltd management and CAASL. PPM is responsible for efficient and cost-effective Maintenance Planning and Control as outlined in this MOE. PPM is to Assist and Liaise with MQA to maintain proper quality assurance in the maintenance organization. PPM is responsible establish facilities appropriate to carry out the planned work, prior to the commencement of the work. PPM is to ensure working environment is appropriate to the tasks being undertaken. To ensure availability of controlled and calibrated instruments, Special tools, equipment (including GSE), general tools and materials to perform the planned tasks. PPM is ensure adequate man power is available to plan, perform / supervise, certify the maintenance activities. PPM is to ensure required man power is recruited after competence assessment to meet the organization requirements on routine basis. PPM is to carry out the task and responsibilities issued in particular job description and also to ensure all subordinates are issued with job descriptions. PPM is to ensure that all personnel responsible to him/her are suitably trained, knowledgeable and skilled to undertake such responsibility. PPM is ensure controls and monitors material float levels in stores. PPM is responsible for maintain all tools and hangar workshops in a serviceable state and calibration of tools and measuring equipment current. Ensure all instruments and tools are having valid calibrations and renew calibration before due date whilst maintaining current record.

Directing Staff at Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) is one of the prestigious and privilege appointment which a military officer from Tri Services could hold in his service career. DSCSC Sapugaskanda is the apex body to train the middle level military officers from Tri Services of Sri Lanka and other friendly foreign nations. Directing Staff at DSCSC has to direct Military Student Officers in each and every exercise, activity and assessment and evaluate them accordingly. Further, Directing Staff is to play the mediator role in Syndicate Room Discussions on pre decided subject to share knowledge among Student Officers. Also Directing Staff has to supervise 4-5 Research Papers of Student Officers which will be a partial requirement for the Student Officers to get the Masters Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from Kothelawala Defence University. Role of Directing Staff also comprising with conducting lectures on selected subjects and I happened to conduct Lectures on Military Aid to Civil Authority (MACA), Military Aid to Civil Power (MACP), Military Aid to Civil Community (MACC), Military Decision Making Process (MDMP), Intelligence Preparation of Battlefield Process (IPB), Communication in Aviation, Navigational Equipment, Electronics Warfare and Basic Radio Theory. Directing Staff has to play the role of panel member/president for the evaluation of Student Officers presentations/exercises/symposiums etc.

Officer Commanding Avionics is responsible for maintenance of all Avionics Equipment/Systems installed on board the Aircraft belong to the inventory of Flying Training Wing through installation, snags rectification and maintenance. Avionics systems include Communication, Navigation and some Electrical Equipment/Systems. Officer Commanding Avionics also responsible for endorsing the Aircraft Log Book in the supervisory capacity for any snag rectifiìcation action and to ensure the rectifications/installations are carried out by the competent technicians authorized to do so. Further, Officer Commanding Avionics is to manage the human resource under his command through effective and efficient HRD Plan.
