My role as a programmer for Synertech Automation is a flexible one, and has allowed me to gain valuable experience in many areas, including HMI creation, PLC programming, and robot programming. I did a lot of work on the HMI's that we use in our systems, with the goal of creating intuitive designs that are simple for operators to use. I also received training from Kawasaki on how to use their robots, and used that knowledge to program/troubleshoot the robots in our systems. One of my favorite projects was a large conveyance system involving two infeed lines, a weighing station, two outfeed lines, a Kawasaki robot, and two Cognex cameras. My role in the project was programming the PLC to handle the spacing logic on the conveyors, line selection, and communication with the robot and cameras.
