As a Starbucks Barista you're constantly taking different positions of the staffing rotation with who is doing what job in 2-4 hour increments. I feel confident in saying that every role I would be assigned was taken care of with consistent quality and attention to detail, in order to make the experience for customers and coworkers as smooth as possible.Coffee itself is a deeply complex field with different origins and roast styles. Where you buy your coffee matters as much, if not more than how it is grown in the first place or what kind of roasting is performed. The application of grounds to water ratio, the freshness of the beans and roast, all these things are very precise in timing to get the proper flavors from a well made batch of coffee. As one of the smallest locations in the country, this particular "drive-thru only" Starbucks location required a deep focus and trust in one another as 3-4 people was considered a high capacity in the workspace. Every position involved was a deep learning curve, but one I felt very capable of grasping quickly and readily.

A local Pacific Northwest burger chain that is located between the city mall and a busy shopping center made this location virtually one of the landmarks of the area. During my time there were often highly familiar and especially happy faces daily. As a Counter and Drive Thru Associate my role was first and foremost tasked with taking the orders of our customers as accurately and as expeditiously as possible while maintaining a friendly atmosphere for guests that chose to stay and dine. If there were any guests needed serving at the time I would be tasked with assembling and personally serving each guest or group their meal at their booth. If anything was ordered our task also included making year-round or the popular seasonal shakes and sundaes. Otherwise we made sure all fried foods were set to the proper fryers (to be certain our guests would still have vegan fries and burgers without remnants of any meat products from chicken and fish). Whenever there was a need for special side dish recipes like hand-breaded onion rings, seasoned fried asparagus, or just more whipped cream to top the deserts. My responsibility was to consistently follow the recipes making sure they were ready for the lunches and dinner rushes as well as the next day's breakfast.Through following specific guidelines to the word, I was responsible for maintaining a clean and safe dining area, by keeping all tables and booths sanitized and making sure every table had fresh and accessible condiments and napkins. Whenever any children decided to use our in-restaurant play area I was always adamant to make sure every toy was sanitized for the next child to use. When it came to closing and opening the tasks were similar. each day followed strict procedures that maintained a deep-cleaned, stocked, and organized restaurant. Orienting our goals to fulfill the needs and safety of fellow coworkers and customers.

The Photo Department's position was tasked with any and all maintenance and operations of large commercial scale Photo Printers, Self-Print Kiosks, and operational PCs by following proper guidelines for safety while maintaining customer care. Initiating the shipping of customer orders to a third party entity which equipment and operations were facilitated through. the keeping and archiving of daily logs, where any and all non-printing activity involved with printers are recorded. often projects customers ordered would be calendars and assembled photo canvases in which we were locally tasked with in-store assembly of these projects, especially around the holidays.Many cases I would instead be temporarily tasked with attending different departments while their attendants had lunch hour or were not available. Over time I had developed significant experience in every major department. However, the most common position I was attending was the Electronics section in which the photo lab was located. We were key holders for specific cases and locked displays and maintaining stock. Upon request we would also assist customers with their electronics needs, often needing to answer questions they themselves aren't quite sure how to ask. Working through the process in order to help them resolve their needs.

A mobile for-hire home furniture delivery and assembly service tasked with delivering home furniture ordered by a store or warehouse’s customers to their homes and If they requested, we would be tasked with the assembly and set-up of their new furniture. The company did business with multiple warehouses and furniture stores all over the Portland Metro Area. This position was very different from day to day in what to expect and what role that I would take in the facilitation of the delivery and our responsibility was to make sure these models were safe, stable, looking good, and ready for our customer.The relationships between our business and the entities we represented was our most important role in the customer’s homes. When furniture stores needed multiple floor-models assembled in a sudden change of inventory we would be tasked with making sure all those were in their proper place and ready to go.
