Hi there, my name is Sam Fossati - Design Manager at Canopy Fitouts in Melbourne, VIC. I have been with Canopy for 7+ years, starting in 2016 as a Junior Interior Designer after I graduated Curtin University in Western Australia with Honours in Interior Architecture, to now managing my own team of Interior Designers who are specialized in Commercial Fitouts, hospitality, retail, medical and office designs.I am responsible for designing 'end to end' turn-key solutions for our clients across a range of different sectors, budgets, styles and sites. Being with Canopy from its inception, I have been able to absorb a plethora of information surrounding business, design, tactics, management, people and culture. I have a good knowledge of commercial construction and on a day to day basis my roles and responsibilities can cover a range of skills. These can include management, high level documentation (AutoCAD), concept designing, spatial planning, finding creative and well thought out solutions to site specific issues, client liaison, contractor/supplier engagement and correspondence, 3D modelling and rendering through Sketchup and V-Ray, producing detailed FFE schedules and producing compliant design solutions to adhere to the BCA and NCC. I am well versed in designing to individual client briefs, having currently completed hundreds of projects from start to finish.I am always aiming to push the limits of interior spaces so that we maximise connections between humans and nature. You may notice I like to include elements of nature into all of my work. I find this to be very important. I believe in designing spaces that can accentuate the feeling of 'home' for its occupant, to form intrinsic connections between a person and a place through design is something I continually strive for.My passion is in residential design, so much so that during my Honours I wrote my thesis on a sustainable, contemporary rammed earth studio where I designed my own rammed earth home that payed homage to the elements. I have previously worked in a high-end residential firm in Perth during my studies, and currently am undertaking two residential projects to expand my design skill set.
