I'm Sam.I'm a self-taught engineer and entrepreneur who has spent the better part of his life working as a coder and analyst in groups large and small. I have designed, architected, implemented, marketed and supported numerous single and multi-tier web properties, targeted both inside and outside the enterprise.I've been developing software since the age of 6, starting with HTML and JavaScript. I live to code and love nearly every part of the software development lifecycle. Working towards a flawless product, with my own two hands, is what gets me up every morning - and usually what keeps me up at night.Code inspires me. It is the only form of art with the ability to reach back, to respond to interaction. We've only scratched the surface of innovation on the web, and I'm excited to be living in a time when the art form itself is developing so rapidly.The Web is the next frontier for the human aesthetic, and I'm most engaged on a day when all I am expected to do is build something beautiful.I have worked with and on teams ranging from 1 - 20 developers, and led teams to victories large and small (so far up to 10 members strong at any time). I enjoy Agile-type project structure and the accompanying tools (JIRA/etc), and make use of them as often as possible.- I document as I go.- I design before I implement.- I communicate as much as possible.- I worry about proper abstraction and code reusability.- I maintain the separation between presentation and business logic.- I am fully versed in proper source control and continuos integration techniques.- I am experienced alike with small environments where I must test my code myself, and large ones where I must interface with QA.

Software EngineerAmpush Nov 2012 - Jul 2013New York City, New York, UsAmpush brought me on to build a new, experimental social marketing platform from the ground up, as part of a Facebook innovation competition.Dubbed “Project Yoga,” the goal was to offer the industry’s first-ever unified dashboard and “marketer’s newsfeed,” where social marketers could aggregate, curate, and promote organic OpenGraph and Newsfeed content directly into paid advertising media.Nearly every line of code in the Yoga platform release was authored by me - it was my exclusive responsibility to design, architect, implement, test and iterate on Yoga’s back and front-end components. Yoga had a small team, comprised of Ampush's strongest developers in front-end, design, and product. I took the engineering helm, and, given a design and initial JavaScript implementation, turned it into a bona-fide, industrial-strength platform. Responsive designs were prepared for mobile and implemented natively (via iOS WebViews) for iPhone and iPad.We not only finished the project on-time and to-spec, but won the Jury Grand Prize (1st Place) in Facebook’s PMD Innovation Competition, and ushered in Ampush’s designation as a Strategic Performance Marketing Developer, or SPMD. The highly publicized win brought on much more direct and outsize benefit than anticipated: a multitude of new clients, renewed attention to Ampush’s position as a market innovator, and achievement of a key strategic goal for Ampush’s expansion into the social marketplace. -
