I have extensive experience developing models and software for analysing complex data, and I am passionate about how data science and machine learning can reveal insights that help improve, for example, health outcomes.I received my Master’s in engineering from the University of Cambridge, specialising in machine learning. I then completed my PhD at Oxford and I have five years’ postdoctoral research experience as a data scientist, where I used probabilistic modelling and deep learning to better understand brain imaging data. This involved working with clinicians to better understand and predict disease progression for patients with psychiatric diseases or Parkinson's.Subsequently, I have spent three years working as a full-stack software engineer in Dunedin, working on an application that helps scientists collect and analyse physiological data. Combined with my experience writing performant code for inferring complex probabilistic models on terabytes on brain imaging data, I have written large amounts of code spanning all the way up from low-level data processing, to statistical modelling and data visualisation, and ultimately to high-level user interfaces.
