- I train new staff in the field on hydrology projects- I manage teams of field surveyors, to collect data. Data accuracy and team safety is assured through careful planning and protocols.- I record and interpret data using Microsoft Excel- I use maps and GPS units to navigate on site, often in adverse weather conditions.- I liaise with other organisations and volunteers who assist MFTF in their projects.- Moorlife 2020 - with a team of volunteers I installed weirs, dip wells, peizometers and crest stage tubes. The data collected will help protect EU priority habitat Active Blanket Bog (ABB; *7130) within the South Pennine Moors SAC and the ecosystem services it provides.- Burbage Brook Monitoring Project - I measure the water flow rate at stations in the Brook to create a ratings curve (using MS Excel) for each site. On completion this project will provide useful information on the effect of woodland removal on storm flow.MoorLife 2015 - I supported the project manager and validated documents to be submitted as part of the financial audit for the project. I I collated and checked these using MS Excel.- Water Table Monitoring Campaign - I took water table measurements at specific sites with a view to analysing the hydrology of the region. - Making Space for Water Project - I monitored water levels and peat sediment flow in blocked water gullies to analyse the effect a gully has on sediment transport and water table levels

I volunteered as a researcher for the program on the water table monitoring campaign, which is designed to monitor and protect the moorlands in the Peak District National Park.- I collected water table measurements from dipwell clusters in the Kinder Scout and Bleaklow areas with a view to analyzing the hydrology of the region. - I measured pH, conductivity and carbon content of the surface water at weirs in the Kinder Scout and Bleaklow areas.

NOTE: Summer job 2010,2011, 2012 extended until December 2012. Face-to-face IT support for 60 teachers at the University's English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC). Day to day tasks include software installation, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, giving device demonstrations and managing the booking system for peripheral devices.- I enrolled the ELTC department in the Green Impact program, an environmental accreditation scheme run in over 60 universities across the UK, designed to reduce the University's carbon footprint and energy costs. - I opened discussion with publishers to bring e-learning materials as an alternative to paper-based material for staff and students. Publishers were able to provide e-books enhanced with video and audio materials for students to read on smart phones, tablets and computers.- I helped introduce a mobile computer room system so that teachers could use web-based language software in the classroom instead of booking a dedicated computer room. Using Google ChromeBooks teachers can now have mobile computing in the classroom. The University already uses Google's app suite to provide other services. Chromebooks were chosen because they can be centrally managed using this suite to provide similar features to that of a physical computer lab, such as the ability to restrict access and monitor usage.- I helped set up the ELTC as a testing centre for the Cambridge IELTS examinations. Specific environmental conditions, computer hardware and software protocols were carefully followed to ensure rapid delivery of the system. By providing IELTS testing in-house, the department was able to streamline enrollment on its language programs.- I managed and redesigned the ELTC's digital signage system. Using RSS text feeds, video feeds and text, I provided students and staff with information about courses, activities and local news. I redesigned the system to also conform with the University's (relatively new) visual identity.
