I am currently employed at Outdoor Power Equipment Institute as an Accountant. Before OPEI I was at TAPS, I worked directly with the Finance and Accounting director on day to day financial operations. This work consists of handling the accounts payable, check runs, journal entries, month end reconciliations etc. In addition to these tasks, I have also worked remotely for the past 15 months while maintaining the same level of productivity and quality of work. Prior to my work in the non-profit sector, I worked for the North American headquarters for an international supplier of lime, limestone and clay products. I started as a temp, and was hired on full time after spending a year in Accounts Payable. I served as the point of contact for all accounts in the Tennessee and Texas regions, our two largest regions. I also had to work as a go between with our plant personnel to get invoices paid on time which necessitated being an effective communicator.During my accounting career, I have worked in many different areas and industries of accounting. In recent years I have concentrated on accounts payable but have worked with and in receivables as well. I have also relocated to the DC region, with the intent of working to grow my experience and expand my horizons.
