As part of the Cancer Statistics Section I am primarily responsible for the evaluation and implementation of changes to cancer diagnosis coding and cancer staging standards, and the collection of this data for the administration of the Canadian Cancer Registry. In this role, I:- Lead the annual implementation of changes to cancer diagnoses coding and cancer staging standards in Canada through collaboration with the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) and the Canadian Council of Cancer Registries (CCCR).- Review changes to ICD-10, ICD-O, SEER Solid Tumour Rules, AJCC TNM Staging, NAACCR Edits Metafile, etc. - Liaise with Provincial and Territorial Cancer Registries to assess feasibility, value to data users, and risks of non-adoption of changes to cancer coding and staging standards in Canada.- Lead the annual development of documentation for Provincial and Territorial Cancer Registries outlining specifications for data collection and transfer to the Canadian Cancer Registry.- Facilitate meetings for two sub-committees of the CCCR: one focused on training and education; one focused on resolving discrepancies and promoting adherence to standards for cancer coding and staging.- Coordinate two teams involved in the maintenance of a closed website for external partners and stakeholders. - Manage a data quality indicators dashboard to provide insights into quality of data submitted to the Canadian Cancer Registry.

- Analyzed clinician documentation to select appropriate diagnostic codes for hospital reimbursement purposes with the use of reference materials to guide decisions as necessary. - Participated in educational courses to increase competency in areas of work.- Interacted with team members to discuss issues and develop solutions. - Reported access to flagged records and maintained confidentiality of all patient information.

- Managed an independent small-scale project over the summer with little supervision and prioritized tasks to ensure project completion.- Developed a project management plan, including a Gantt chart, work breakdown structure, and key performance indicators to inform decisions while completing a project.- Presented project results through a report to leadership to help inform decision-making based on project findings, as well as a presentation to classmates and instructors.
