Sam Hamilton leads the Data, Analytics, ML, AI, and GenAI Platform teams, which delivers secure, high-quality and easy-to-use Visa core data assets as a service together with reliable and scalable platforms as services to enable Visa and its partners to rapidly and efficiently innovate data and AI-driven business products and services to lead the digital payment industry.

Sam led the Global Data Products technology teams, where the power of data is leveraged across a variety of products that span multiple Visa business facets: Analytics, AI Platform, Payment Security & Identity, Loyalty & Benefits, Marketing & Content Platforms, Ecosystem Risk Systems, and Business Solutions.

Sam led the data platform development as it evolved to its current big data architecture to serve client needs and for growing the business intelligence capabilities.

Sam led the Data Technology organization, responsible for building data platforms that drive analytical insights, experimentation, risk, demand generation, a next generation of machine learning, data science and large-scale data infrastructures. Data strategy was focused on building a robust and capable information platform and then leveraging the capabilities of the platform to deliver high-value information to people and systems for growth.

Responsible for all aspects of technology: Research, Engineering, Quality, Site & Data Center Operations, and Content Operations. Assembled a research team to create valuable intellectual properties: query classification and relevance ranking. Initiated University Research Collaboration. Introduced innovation at various levels and refreshed the technology stack including a search engine. Led the organization for Operational Efficiency and profitability and instrumental in winning big customers.

Responsible for Architecture, Development, QA, and Operations of Display Advertising Systems. Real-time ad targeting and serving platform for delivering upwards of 6 billion graphical, rich media and video ads daily, using a highly distributed, fault tolerant, low latency system. Co-designed patented algorithms. Ad systems include campaign planning tool, inventory forecasting, supply management systems, ad measurements, and reporting infrastructures. Led the effort of migrating all Yahoo properties to a global ad-serving solution (~40k webservers and over 100 properties), and successfully integrated Yahoo’s acquisitions: Blue Lithium, AdInterax, Overture data pipeline, etc. Led many innovations and lead initiatives including mobile monetization, smart ads, rich media, and video ads. Participated in industry standards including IAB (Interactive Advertisement Bureau) Ad Ops Council. Founding member IAB Robots and Spider Policy Board. Won Yahoo! Superstar award in 2005; Team award in 2006 and 2007.

Directed engineering strategy, development, and release of Selectica products. Introduced software engineering process at various levels for successful software releases. Responding to customer needs created several new product lines including Selectica’s first analytical products and insurance applications for health and property & casualty industries.

Held a variety of engineering and management positions. Directed the research, development and release of Web Technology and Products. Initiated and lead the development of Informix's XML strategy. Managed development of several programming interface and server products for Informix Dynamic Servers. As the principal developer, architected and led the engineering efforts of Informix’s connectivity product for the Windows platform.

Designed, developed, and tested software systems for mathematical models. Developed an AI based advisor system.
