Trainee Technician
Employed under the Highways Section of the County Council. I'm on a 6 month rotation between various deparments within the highway structure from Major Projects, such as the Northern Distributor Road, to Highway Maintenance to Network Saftey and Analysis. In each department I've used Auto CAD to create designs, work out quantities and present the final design to the general public and contractors for construction. In addition to this I’ve also been using Microsoft Office to create letters, bills of quantities and to analysis data. All documents are checked to ensure that they comply with Norfolk County Councils objectives and the national standards/ best practice. In my role within the Norwich Northern Distributor Road I have been undertaking daily site inspections and witnessing testing done on various aspects of the scheme. This has included drainage air tests, road level tests. In this role and my previous role in Area Maintenance it has involved attending emergencies and defects within the highway network and dealing with them either on site or booking in work for more complex jobs. This has also means that I’ll be out in all weathers and have a practical approach to situations.
