About Samia Dumbuya
Hello! Welcome to my page! My name is Samia Dumbuya and I am a climate justice advocate and educator, supporting young people and marginalised communities to understand the climate crisis and how it affects them. I support communities to develop co-designed tools to develop climate resilience. My work centre’s people, community and sustainability. For the past seven years, I have developed toolkits, reports and visual aids to help individuals create change in their communities.Currently, I am:- A UK Youth Delegate for COP29, collating young people's thoughts on climate action and policy and bringing them to the global stage.- A freelance consultant and researcher for The Wildlife Trusts and Uprising, supporting their mission to understand young people's relationship to the natural world and their engagement outdoors.- A Fellow for the BeVisioneers Mercedes-Benz Fellowship, researching community energy and democratising the energy system.- A Trustee for Rethinking Economics, supporting them with their mission to reframe economics in UK universities and centering climate in economics.Generally, I support organisations with community engagement and outreach to co-design climate solutions and policies with communities that are most affected by climate and environmental injustice.As an advocate of climate justice, I facilitate spaces for various stakeholders to plan and formulate different methods of making their practices more inclusive and eco-friendly. I have coordinated workshops for Samsung, Young Friends of the Earth Europe, the Climate Resilience Project and many more. I focus on empowering young people of marginalised backgrounds by equipping them with tangible and practical tools, in order for them to create change in their own communities and spaces.Sustainability is a vital part of my work. I am constantly improving and evolving my thoughts and ideas on what it means to be progressive and impactful in the climate communications sphere.
