About Samia Tossio

A British-born Palestinian artist, vocalist, and presenter with maternal German/Italian roots, I am known for my mantra #LoveLifeLifeLovesYou. In 2008, I established SamiArt to ‘inspire & share through playfully creative communication’ and through these years of working with all ages and abilities I have come to define community as ‘communication in unity through diversity and inclusion.’An award-winning creative director and first Chair of Arts Network Sutton (ANS), I concurrently spent 16 years home-educating our two sons because I found out that education is compulsory but school is not and loved the idea of family unity without state intrusion. During this time, I co-founded Sutton Home Education Forum (SHEF) to act as a voice for those who didn't have one (things were quite draconian for the HE community at the time, we fixed that) and co-founded the Home Educating Families’ Festival (HEFF) to provide a week-long festival for home educators where the previous one had collapsed after 18 years, and I also served as Vice Chair of Sutton Housing Partnership (SHP) as a Resident Board Member. In 2020, I accepted a challenge to host my own radio show, said yes on the Wednesday and went live on the Saturday - that was a ride, I called it the Go With The Flow Show and broadcast on Juice Radio (28 episodes, audio podcasts are on my website), during that time I was asked to be a UK Ambassador for Kindness by TUFF.Earth.In 2022, I was commissioned to co-create the #SuttonMosaicBench for #IWD22 and spoke on the transformative power of arts at the House of Commons for #IWD23. In 2023, I challenged myself by performing new music with my husband, the producer and DJ, Paolo Tossio. My first gig was to an audience of 3000+ at WOMAD Festival. In addition to SamiArt, and new for 2024, I am co-hosting 'Live & Loud - the Groovy Dance Music and Chat Show' a weekly podcast to share our uplifting flipside vibes and support causes, events, people we are passionate about.Discover more, including my shop, at: https://linktr.ee/samiatossio Press/TV: Surrey Life Magazine (6-page feature), Silver Magazine, Daily Mirror, Loose Women (ITV, on Home Education), Victoria Derbyshire (BBC2, on Natural Woodland Burials)Key Skills:- Community Engagement: uplifter of spirits, bringing positive energy and love for life into everyday moments, and finding the thread that connects- Creative Direction- Presenting/Hosting - Events & project management- Social media design & content - Workshop facilitation- Doodle Artist, Finger Knitter, Silk Painter, Installation artist
