About Sami Anjum

I am an academic orthopaedic surgery registrar in the Newcastle NHS Foundation Trust / Newcastle University. I am also a current RCS England/ORUK/RCS Edinburgh Orthopaedic Research Fellow and PhD candidate, investigating the potential for statins to reduce the inflammatory response to orthopaedic biomaterials. My immunological and molecular biology research is funded by the NUTH Charity, Orthopaedic Research UK, Versus Arthritis, RCS England and RCS Edinburgh. I have presented this work at international conferences and through peer reviewed journals. Clinical academic training in orthopaedic surgery will allow me to bridge clinical problems with bench-side research to benefit the patients we serve.
