Samik is currently a hospital-employed Minimally Invasive General and Bariatric Surgeon with expertise in laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic surgery. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for his undergraduate education, where he majored in Biology with a minor in Psychology. He completed his medical education through a 7-year Accelerated Physician-Scientist BS/MD combined degree program at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. He then completed his general surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His passion for treatment of obesity led him to complete a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the prestigious Bariatric Medical Institute of Texas (BMI of Texas) in San Antonio, TX in affiliation with University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he developed expertise in both laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
