I've worked freelance since 2017, principally working full time for Fieldfare Ecology, developing innovative spatial data projects. Meanwhile, I've worked on numerous passion projects like an up-to-date bus map for Belfast. I've continuously developed my knowledge and technical skills, including completing an MSc in Software Development and Microsoft and ISTQB certifications, and have gradually gained the confidence to offer my services more broadly. So if you're a charity or small business in need of a diligent, capable and friendly contractor for software and data projects, please say hi!

I put my problem-solving abilities into practice and quickly developed competence in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) including custom SQLite/SpatialLite expressions, creating powerful project systems for collating, processing and visualising spatial data. Over the course of my tenure, this enabled us to deliver rich but accessible and tailored maps and plans to hundreds of farm businesses, some of the largest quarry companies in NI (Breedon, Whitemountain, Lafarge), and other consultancies and eNGOs (Arup, National Trust, RPS) protecting internationally-designated sites for nature conservation. Solving the problem of collaboration on GIS projects over OneDrive via careful file structure and permissions management allowed the team to expand, giving several graduates valuable technical experience. In all, it's been a fantastic opportunity to explore ways of integrating GIS and Microsoft systems. After joining the Software Development MSc, I continued with Fieldfare in a technical support capacity, maintaining and augmenting the systems I had set up, in Microsoft Admin/OneDrive, Excel/Power Query, Word Mail Merge, and QGIS/QField.
