Major Projects: Smart Qatar Central Platform (Tasmu): Setup and operations of the central platform in Azure to host all Qatar smart city use cases. As MSI Data & AI track lead, I was responsible for reviewing, approving, and deploying the data deliverables created by the consortium (Microsoft, Accenture, Delta Partners, Ooredoo, malomatia, Atos, and TCS) which included a data lake with multiple zones (ADLS Gen2), data processing and orchestration (Databricks, Data Factory), data warehousing (Synapse dedicated and serverless pools), data management (Purview), analytics (Analysis Services / Power BI), hot path analytics (IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Functions, Logic Apps, Azure Data Explorer / Kusto), and advanced analytics use case (ML Service, Databricks, Cognitive Services, Cosmos DB, SQL DB) Smart Qatar Central Platform (Tasmu): Enhancements and additional capabilities. As a Data & and AI architect, I designed the Data Landing Zone in Azure to receive data from external entities in a secured and cost-effective way, implemented a new data sharing solution based on Databricks Delta Sharing technology, and supported the addition of Azure Digital Twin as a smart city digital twin providing real-time analytics for use cases like FIFA World Cub 2022 Crowd Management. Led the design and implementation of many AI initiatives including AI Virtual Assistants, AI Chatbots, and Search and recommendation engines for Government entities using OpenAI LLMs, Langchain, and Azure.

 Formalized BI and analytics technology standards, solution definition principles, and best practices in BI architecture, data modeling, data integration, OLAP, self-service BI, and standard reports and dashboards. Established the Decision Support Systems (DSS) section under Group ICT, staffed, coached, and managed DSS team. Successfully led the transformation of the multi-version desktop reporting practice into a culture of a single version of the truth, secure online reports, and KPIs dashboards, resulting average of 500 active users and 1000+ report executions per day. Managed several full life-cycle BI projects for Food & Beverage, Automotive, Engineering, Medical, and Properties business units, using Microsoft SQL Server BI stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, MDX, DAX) sourcing data from ERP (Sage Line 500, Dynamics AX), SFA (RouteTrac, AutoMaster) and CRM (SalesLogix). Improved speed of decision-making and access to information. Introduced Self-Service BI as a Group-wide initiative (MS SharePoint, Power Pivot, Power View, and Power BI), trained and supported 200+ analysts and users accessing data marts of Sales & Distribution, Production, Parts and Services, Inventory, Supply Chain, and Finance across DAL Business Units. Reduced Business Planning duration of DAL Business Units from months to a few days. Implemented and supported a set of interlinked Budgeting and Planning applications for Sales, Expenses, Production, Material Planning, and Financials Summary in IBM Cognos Planning / Cognos BI. Migrated the Group Financial Consolidation platform to IBM Cognos Controller 10.2 / Financial Analytics Publisher (FAP) / TM1. Led the BI work stream in the DAL Food SAP ERP (S/4HANA) implementation program (Blueprinting | E&Y) Elected for DAL Leadership Development Program (TIAS Business School – Netherland, 2013-2014).

 Data Quality Improvement Project: Improved customer data quality by 70% and enabled NCB to meet “Know Your Customer” objectives. Supported NCB branches cleaning customers’ records by identifying invalid data and measuring progress against the baseline. Supported central cleansing effort in tracking customer contact, automatic correction, and unification (Visual Basic, SQL Server, Crystal Reports) Enterprise Data Warehouse Migration Project (NCR Teradata to Oracle 9i/AIX): Developed tools to convert Teradata Multi-load scripts into Oracle SQL*Loader control files/SQL scripts and to validate migrated history data. Saudi Credit Bureau Uploads Project: Developed scripts and applications for the scheduled exchange between NCB and SIMAH of XML Request/Response files containing customers’ Personal Finance and payments data extracted from NCB Data Warehouse (Oracle, PL/SQL, Java I/O, JDBC, SAX, shell scripts, .Net) Technical Team Lead and Project Manager in many Data Marts Development: Conducted requirements and systems analysis, logical and physical dimensional data modeling, database design, ETL development, and metadata catalog update (Erwin, Ascential DataStage, Oracle 9iR2/HP-UX, Cognos) Supported 100+ Data Warehouse users: on various data marts sourced from NCB divisional and channel systems: Core Banking, Investment, Treasury, Trade Finance, Accounts, ATM & POS, Phone Banking, and Internet Banking. Trained users in Cognos Impromptu and provided solutions for complex reports. Maintained Data Warehouse Subsystems: 200+ ETL batch jobs and 20 data marts. Fixed issues and developed new business requirements, and coordinated production releases with SQA and Operations departments. Improved DW security and performance by redesigning the user access model utilizing Oracle database role-based and row-level security. Developed tools to enhance DW operations e.g. a GUI utility (Visual C++/Oracle OCI) to enable DW users to change their Oracle passwords (no SQL*Plus)
