• Using the laboratory's LIMS system to locate sample status (TubeTracker, Winpath).• Responsible for processing biological samples such as nose and throat swabs (wet or dry swabs), DNA fits and sputum samples.• Prepare Covid-19 samples for direct PCR on QuantStudio5 (and prepare appropriate master mix) or for qPCR on Panther system.• Part of VOC team (Variant testing of Sars-Cov-2) and COSQ team (whole genome sequencing of Sars-Cov-2) followed by direct PCR or RT-PCR with appropriate master mix preparation. • Able to operate instruments such as QIAsymphony, EZ1 Advanced XL and Kingfisher Flex for RNA extraction and QuantStudio5 and ProFlex PCR System for PCR. • Trained in library preparation for Illumina NGS and operate NextSeq 550 Series.

• Temporary laboratory opened as a collaboration between GSK, Astra Zeneca, University of Cambridge and Charles River Laboratories for national testing efforts for Covid-19. • Responsible for receiving Covid-19 samples in the form of wet swabs only• Process of heat inactivation of Covid-19 samples to reduce risk of infection and protect the operators. • Responsible for unpack samples, creating plate maps through the laboratory's LIMS system, and process samples into 96-well deep plates, with the addition of all the necessary reagents and carry out PCR.
